An Caminó - St. Declan's Way - 17/18/19 March 2012

An Caminó
An Caminó, on St. Patrick's weekend was a great success and a wonderful time was had by all 68 participants.  The organisers were sorry to have to turn some late bookings away but they had to limit the numbers for safety reasons.
It got off to a great start in Ardfinnan where the community served refreshments before departure.  Being St. Patrick's Day a big bunch of shamrock was left on a seat near Goatenbridge where walkers were invited to help themselves.
The weather held up except for a small shower while crossing over the Knockmealdown mountains and a warm welcome was waiting in Lismore Heritage Centre on arrival.
Glorious sunshine greeted everyone on Sunday morning and after a visit to the Lismore Farmer's Market where walkers got their lunch provisions, they set out for the 22km walk to Aglish.
The 3rd and final day was the shortest walk at 20km into the seaside village of Ardmore.  The day held a few surprises, the most memorable of which was the Tea, Scones and Toilet Stop that the Cunninghams so kindly and generously provided for the pilgrims as they passed by their home on route.
